Preschool and stitching

The big boys headed to preschool last week! They were so excited and it was fun to see them head into this next stage of their lives.

So they needed some library bags and these kept me busy earlier this week.
On Wednesday we minded the boys for the whole day and it was so busy. I managed to lose Mr Ben in Questacon which was very scary for me!! He seemed quite OK! We got very hot attempting to fly kits in the afternoon. We were all too busy to get many photos.
On the stitching front, I made block 99 of The splendid Sampler yesterday.
I have slowly been stitching another block of United stitches.
Just today I have started to applique these little flowers for the borders of The Story of my Day.

Great show and tell

There were some lovely projects on show last Wednesday. Leslie has finished her beautiful basket using the pattern by Anni Downs. She has done an amazing job.

Marlene came to class with this handy needlecase and her Tilda bag all finished. Great work Marlene.

In the evening, Lynn brought in her wonderful quilt to show us. She did the BOM run by Hobbysew and it is a lovely pattern by Natalie Bird.
Lynn has also made this wonderful advernt calendar. It is a great pattern by Marg Low.
Lynne, in the afternoon, also brought in this beautiful zippered pouch that her sister brought back from Japan. So gorgeous.

I have been plodding along with my projects. Here are the last two blocks of The story of my day.

I also completed this crocheted scarf which I started years ago. I bought the cotton cheaply in Japan at the 100 yen shop (like out $2 shops here).

Finally, another couple of blocks for The Splendid Sampler. Only 2 to go!

Progress

I have been heading into the sewing room quite a bit lately....it is nice and cool in there so that does help. We have been having extremely hot days here in Canberra. There have been many days over 30 degrees and there are some 40 degree days coming soon! So I have made a bit more progress on my Story of My day quilt. Here are a few more blocks.

These little paper pieced flowers have been such fun to make, even with the extra step of cutting my own papers! Can't wait to be up to appliqueing them to the borders.
I have also stitched a couple more blocks of United Stitches.

I am now adding borders to Foxley Village so the top will be done soon.

Catching up

It was great to catch up with my lovely class girls again last Wednesday after the long Christmas break. Many of them had been busy stitching. I managed to capture just a few finishes with the camera. Lynda has been especially busy and has made a wonderful baby quilt using the runner blocks (from the retreat) and adding lots of others. Looks so lovely with all the Tilda fabrics.

Jayne has also been stitching and has finished these gorgeous bags!

I have done a little catching up with my Splendid Sampler blocks. Only a few more to go and then that adventure will be finished.....other than piecing the quilt etc!

Over the last few weeks I have been working on my Anderson's Farm and have a top!!! So exciting to see it at this stage!
I should be doing UFOs but couldn't resist this BOM! Dancing Chickens and Flying Pigs was too tempting. Here is block one and the second block is below. This is my kind of stitching. It is all hand work!

I also ordered my blog books for 2016. Such fun looking over the year's stitching, family times and holidays in these books.

Grandies

Just thought I would share a few more photos of the little people today. They are all growing and changing so much. The big boys head to preschool next week! Where has the time gone? They went to the park with Pa and Mummy recently and Pa took some great shots of them all.

Here is little Jack enjoying the little shell pool.

And a few of Miss Alice from the last few weeks.
