Family time

Monday was a public holiday here is Canberra and so we headed to a park to spend some time with the family. Ma is visiting this week so it was lovely to see her too. The weather was perfect for a picnic morning tea.

It was special to see Lois and Phoebe and their parents and Auntie Janelle too. Didn't get photos of everyone as it was a little busy with all the little ones.

Nature's Journey quilt

There has been so much machine sewing happening here. I just had to get my top made for the Stitch-a-long blog by the end of September and here it is! It was a big job but worth it to have this quilt top ready!

Tulip Top Gardens

We headed out to Tulip Top gardens yesterday and even though it was very chilly, the sun was shining and the flowers were gorgeous. We enjoyed the sausage sandwich provided and then feasted on yummy food that everyone brought along. It was a lovely day out.
We bumped into the birthday girl, Roz, there too!

We were trying to remember when we went there before. It was in 2007! I was checking my blog books to find it but I didn't blog back then! Some of us were there both times.

Stitching

So good to see some lovely stitching on Wednesday this week. Karen has finished her amazing felt applique cushion from a pattern by Wendy Williams.
Jan was working on this lovely embroidery.
Marlene has finished her little foundation pieced hanging and has done a great job.
She has also framed her cross stitch ready for Christmas.
I have been stitching too but on some secret projects for our Stitching on the lake days coming up on 31st October and 7th October. The days are filling up but there are still places at the moment. If you are interested in coming email me. Today I thought I had best start cutting up the hundreds of little 2" squares for the borders on Nature's Journey. The top is due to be finished at the end of this month!
I have also been stitching this lovely Hugs and Stitches design called Two French Kisses. It has been lovely stitching with the variegated Cottage Garden perle thread.

More Stitching in the Hills

As we were using such lovely coloured felts in our projects, we decided to have a rainbow theme for our dinner on Saturday night. It was great fun and the ladies did such a great job of dressing up.

We also had show and tell and it was so inspiring to see what everyone has made over the last year of so. Gorgeous embroidery!
Lovely to see this My Town finished. I should get my blocks out and finish mine! Lesley has done a wonderful job.
Jenny has taken the projects we did last year and added lots more blocks to make this amazing quilt.

This piece of hardanger/cutwork was amazing.
Anne made the Singalong bunting from earlier in the year into a quilt.
Jo had finished this lovely little Anni Downs bag.
I just loved this great elephant quilt made by Clare for a special little person. Looks like a fun project.
These were just a few of the lovely items on show. Thank you to all the ladies who attended our fourth Stitching on the lake weekend. Fiona and I enjoy planning and preparing for these weekends and it is always special catching up with everyone and sharing a weekend together.

Stitching in the Hills

It was lovely to get together with so many happy ladies at our retreat, Stitching in the Hills, at Warrambui near Canberra last weekend. We had 60 ladies attending the retreat this year and we had a really relaxing weekend of stitching, laughter and friendship. On Friday we set up the room with our cheerful kits all ready for the ladies. Fiona has more pictures on her blog. After a yummy roast dinner we opened the doors so the ladies could see what they were going to make over the weekend.

These were our projects this time. It was lovely to work with such lovely colours of wool felt.

Here are some of the ladies busy stitching.

Terrie and Najelle came out on Saturday and set up a lovely Hobbysew stall. Everyone enjoyed a bit of shopping.

Here we are ready for the day.
