Wonderful weekend away

It was so lovely to be invited to spend a stitching weekend away at Crackenback with some great friends. There was some stitching but there was also lots of eating and drinking, chatting and sharing.....which is what you expect at a stitching weekend! Thanks to Michelle and Maria for organising such a wonderful time.

A couple of finishes

It was very nice to finish a couple of ongoing projects last week. I stitched the redwork and made the hexagons for this zippered bag years ago! I just put off making things up. As it happened this went together so well thanks to the good instructions by Helen Stubbings. It will be such a useful bag.

I also used up all my linen thread and completed my scarf. This was a bit of a fiddle but became fun as I got used to the pattern. It was a kit by Helen Yang that I bought at the Sydney Craft show.

Show and tell

So lovely to see lots of sewing over the last few weeks at class. Margaret has been so busy using up her fabric stash to make some lovely table runners and mats as well as quilts!

Margaret has also finished this gorgeous hanging for Christmas with plenty of room for more grandies!
Roni was only working on this stitchery recently and here it is all made up into a delightful cushion!

Lynne is very prolific and does gorgeous work. Here is her latest canvas work creation, Life's a beach.

Lynne is also getting ready for Christmas with this little chocolate bag, which is an old design of mine, and some lovely bon bons from a great Anni Downs' pattern.

Tilda Santa and some other stitching

I can't believe it is so long since I last posted! I have been busy and have just completed the Santa from the Tilda book, Homemade and Happy. I have been wanting to make him for a while but he was such a lot of work though I do love the result. First there was quite a bit of applique.

Then his coat front, parts of his pants, the sleeves and the hat and beard had to be hand quilted. I think I should have made my quilting bigger as this took ages! I ended up with holes in my fingers (I have never been very good at using a thimble).
And....ta dah....here he is!
I also forgot to show you last month's Dancing Chickens and Flying Pigs block!
Lastly, I completed another small stitchery for the United Stitches project.
Best get organised as classes start today for fourth term! I might take Santa for show and tell.
