Book Week and stitching

The big boys had book week last week so it was fun to help with their costumes. Benny wanted to be the Cat in the Hat which was not too difficult as some kind person had a great pattern for the hat on Pinterest. What a wonderful resource it is.....even if it wastes time as you are tempted to look at it frequently. Here is the hat and bow tie.
Sammy wanted to be Superworm which was a little trickier. Amy had great ideas and we were both a bit worried as to how to do it. In the end the stuffed stockings worked a treat! The boys helped to stuff some of them  them after preschool one afternoon and then Amy worked out how to join them and make the rest of the costume. Don't they look good!

There has been knitting going on here but I did do the next part of Dancing Chickens and Flying Pigs. I am loving this project!
The ladies at class yesterday just loved Jayne's gorgeous little coaster. I was a bit nervous putting the cup of tea onto it! It is such a cute pattern that she found here.

Inspiration....

We had last Wednesday afternoon off from class so it was very inspiring to see what some of the ladies have been working on when we met this past week. Lynne has been very busy with her cross stitch and her lovely needleturn using yarn dyed fabrics.

Roni has made this wonderful Santa!
Jayne has been very busy and has created these lovely pin cushions. The blue one even has its' own little bag to keep it safe.

Jayne bought this gorgeous runner as a kit from Anni Downs and has done an amazing job making it up!

Jayne was also using this lovely zippered pouch for her favourite needleturning tools!
Last night, I went to stitching and Heather has created these amazing felt baubles and mat. They are her own design and are just gorgeous.

Meanwhile I have been knitting, finished a crochet scarf and started my Part 8 of Dancing Chickens and Flying Pigs.

Canberra Quilt Show

Last weekend the Canberra Quilt and Craft show was on and it was fun to go on Friday and then again on Sunday. The craft show is small but there were still some nice stalls to visit. It was lovely to see Cutting Cloth from Melbourne, BeBe bold and also to see some lovely wool on sale too. The Canberra quilters had a lovely display of quilts from their members and also from all over Australia. Enjoy these pictures of some of the quilts.
Star Link but Pamela Brockwell.
Ormiston Gorge by Helen Godden is quite amazing. I gather she managed to sew by machine using quite thick wool.

This quilt was a round Robin quilt made by a group of clever quilters.

Iggy by Bronwyn Hill was quite intriguing.

I loved this quilt made with 30s fabric by Elaine White. It is called Thirties Square Dance.
Karin Malmberg has done a lovely job of this quilt.

This quilting on this one by Lynda Nikolovski is amazing.
This wonderful mixed media quilt won first prize and so it should have. Well done, Dorothy Clee.

 Another one by Helen Godden.
This one caught my eye as well. It is called Kross Kut Kaffe and was created by a clever group from the Modern Quilting group.

Lovely to see this fun quilt by Linda Wilson. I know Linda's son loved this Simpsons' quilt.
There were also the Best of Australia quilts. This one is by Rachelle Denneny.
The next two are from the themed challenge quilts for the AQC. They were all very interesting. This is Hello Possums by Jeannie Henry.
And this one is Kangaroo and Wattle by Linden Lancaster.
There were so many inspiring quilts!

A little progress

I have been enjoying some knitting this past week! I bought some wool in Sydney to make myself a cardigan and have been enjoying the knitting very much. Does slow down the other projects on the go. I did manage to put another block of Scandinavian Rose together last week. Only one more to go!
I also managed to do three more blocks from United stitches slowly over the last month. I prepared some more and have only 3 or 4 to go!

The Story of my Day

Finally.....The Story of My Day quilt is finished. It is such a lovely design by Anni Downs and I so enjoyed making this quilt. It has been quilted so beautifully by Robyn of Plain and Fancy. She is so clever!
