Brisbane

Last Thursday, Paddy and I flew to Brisbane to go to the AQC. We were so excited to be heading to a craft show again after so long. We arrived at our apartment and Adrienne met us there. We walked to the shops and enjoyed afternoon tea and bought some sushi for dinner. On Friday we headed to the Exhibition Centre to meet Fiona. We had a lovely time! It was a bit smaller than in Melbourne and many of the shops from Victoria weren't there. Still, we loved seeing Anni Downs, Jane at Bebe bold and the Birdhouse stalls and many others.

The quilts were quite amazing. Here are a few of them.

This quilt has been made using quarter inch hexagons.

On Saturday, we explored a bit. We caught the river cat to Teneriffe. We were planning to have lunch there but there was a music festival and the main road was closed off. We then returned to South Bank and had a late lunch there.

We decided to walk back to town over the bridge. We bought some simple dinner and relaxed in the evening.

We enjoyed seeing these stainless steel statues.
Yesterday, Paddy and I filled in time till our late afternoon flight having lunch and then catching the air train to the airport. The weather was so beautiful there. Freezing here today!
I didn't need anything but still managed to buy!

Some sewing...

Well the time has certainly flown since my last post. I have been slowly stitching away. I ordered some more fabric for my inner border for my Kathy Schmitz hexagon quilt and have added all the outer hexagons.

My other fun project is Anni Downs' new BOM called Around Town. I do love that this is all hand stitched. Here are the stitcheries for Part 1 and I have begun the hexagons.

Couldn't resist sharing this great drawing of our family by Alice. She drew it in a card for me for Mothers Day. It is very special!

Wonderful time away

How exciting! Last week we flew to Maroochydore to visit our dear friends, Fiona and David. It was strange packing and even stranger getting on a plane. All went smoothly and we had a wonderful few days exploring the area, chatting and eating delicious meals. Thank you so much for your wonderful hospitality.

On Wednesday we headed to check out the Patchwork Angel. What a lovely shop. We also went to a lovely small town up in the hills and enjoyed lunch with a view.

On Thursday we explored Noosa. We had a delicious brunch first and wished we had our swimmers as the beach looked great. The boys went for a walk while we checked out the lovely shops in Hastings street.

On Friday we enjoyed coffee with Pete and Phillipa, who we know from the Bay. We bumped into them when we were exploring on Wednesday. We also went out for a fabulous dinner at an amazing italian restaurant.
Fiona and I enjoyed a little stitching in her beautiful sewing room.

The boys even fitted in some paddling!
Thank you so much to Fiona and David for having us in their gorgeous new home.
