Little Moreton Hall, Chester and on to Hay

This afternoon we are heading to Heathrow to get our flight home. We have had a lovely time visiting Penny and John and enjoying their lovely home and the lovely area in which they live. To get there we headed towards Chester and had a night there. On the way we had a delightful visit to Little Moreton Hall. It is an amazing Medieval house and it is so lovely to visit. They have a lovely tea room too!

Some of the volunteers dress up and demonstrate crafts from the time of the house. This lady is binding a book.

We then headed to Chester and had a lovely night there. We wandered around the town and then discovered that the Chester Mystery  Plays were on. They are only performed every 5 years. It was a wonderful performance. The plays are based on plays written in the 14th century. This year was the first time they had been performed in the cathedral, which made them very special.

We weren't allowed to take photos of the plays but here is the cathedral all lit up.

The next day we headed to Hereford and checked out Ludlow on the way.

In Hereford and we met Penny and John and saw Penny's course work at the college. Very impressive, Penny!
We checked out some of the other exhibits and here are just a few.

The next day we visited the Cwmmau farm, which is only open (other than as a B&B) for 8 days each year. It was so interesting. We did a tour which was very informative and then wandered around on our own. I just loved the embroideries in this house, which were done in the war years and in the 50s.

I will have to share the rest of our week here when we get home. Best get packed up and ready for the drive and the long flights.
