Fairbanks and San Francisco

On Thursday 25 August we headed by bus to Fairbanks. We ended up at the Riverboat Discovery Tour. First we had a yummy lunch and then went on the riverboat tour. It was an excellent tour with good commentary and it was very well organised. There was a float plane demonstration and a dog mushing demonstration at a large husky dog kennels.

We then went to visit this reconstructed native village to see how the indians lived, hunted and made their clothes. It was so well organised. It was raining a little so ponchos were handed out and so were mats to sit on the damp seats! The young people who spoke did very well.

This gorgeous young lady looked particularly fetching in this amazing parka made from many furs and beautifully beaded.

We had to be up at 4.45 am on Friday to catch the shuttle to the airport for our first of 3 flights back to San Francisco. Sadly the first one was delayed and we were put onto a later plane. The amazing thing was that we saw the top of Mt Denali during our flight to Anchorage. We then had to run to our next flight to Seattle.

The next connection gave us just enough time to get some lunch and hop on the next flight to San Francisco. What amazed us most was that our luggage was there to meet us in San Francisco. Well done, Alaskan Air. We then had 2 nights and one day in San Francisco. I wanted to visit Britix fabrics and do some shopping at Macys. We managed to do both.

We also headed to the Fishermen's wharf and had a wander around.

On Sunday 28 August, we picked up our car and headed down the coast towards LA.
