Visit to Berrima

Penny and I stopped at Berrima on the way to Sydney and had a lovely lunch of yummy soup at the Old Bakery.

This is one of the cute shops that are in Berrima. You can easily spend a day browsing in this lovely town.
We then HAD to go to Berrima patchwork which was lovely. Penny bought a Bareroots pattern. Berrima patchwork has a great range of Bareroots patterns and most of them are made up into samples which makes them even more tempting!
We then went to Bowral and had a quick visit to My Place in Bowral. These are some older photos taken by Lisa from her blog as I didn't take any. Lovely shop.

Back home and a few more pictures of Wednesday night

I am back after a busy weekend in Sydney. I will post about all the Sydney happenings soon, when I have downloaded the pictures from the camera. Thought I had best finish showing you the lovely work by my night girls.
Margaret has been working on this fantastic quilt for her daughter and son-in-law for their wedding. It has just been quilted. Looks really great though I do apologise for the blurry photo!
Here is a close up of the quilted braids.
Margot has made this lovely baby bag as a gift. Such a useful and attractive gift.

Fantastic Bag

Rhonda, in the afternoon class, shared this great bag she was given. It is a decorated bag using one of the cheap bags you buy to put your groceries in! What a great idea and I must have a go!

Looks really good and so practical with side pockets.
I should be on my way as I am going to Sydney today and heading to the craft show at Darling Harbour tomorrow. Can't wait! Mind you, Penny and I do plan to visit Berrima and perhaps Bowral on the way.

Wednesday morning social stitching

So glad I had the camera with me today as there were so many lovely things being stitched. Here is Penny's Bareroots nativity picture finished.
Maryellen is working on this lovely canvas work pattern. She got it from Nordic Needle and I am so tempted to check that site out.
Here is the work in progress. It is amazing how textured it is by using various canvas work stitches.
Here is Colleen's work in progress. It is one of Bronwyn Hayes' baby book patterns and is looking so good.

Finished cushion, borders and a stitchery

Had a quieter day on Monday and managed to finish this cushion. It is a pattern by Sally Giblin. it is going to have a holiday at Hobbysew as a sample for a while.
Here is the proof that I have added the borders to my "Your home or mine" quilt.
I stitched this lovely piece out of one of Lynette Anderson's lovely books and have decided to make it into a cushion instead of framing it. My favourite framer is retiring and I will be lost without his lovely recycled timber frames. I had to choose what to get framed before he stops and there were quite a few things to frame!

Unusual gift!

I have had a busy weekend with lovely visitors. My parents-in-law, brother-in-law and sister-in-law came to Canberra for a flying visit. So I have had a busy time socialising and organising meals etc. It was lovely to have them all. So not much stitching to blog today.
I did start this pattern a few weeks ago as an unusual gift for a friend. She doesn't read blogs so won't see this! My friends from the Bay have one person each to purchase a birthday gift for each year. I have bought some goodies for my person and wanted to stitch something. She isn't a stitcher really but years ago we saw this pattern and she said we should get together and stitch it one day!
It is quite a large quilt now that I have prepared it. I have stitched 2 sets of backgrounds and have fused one for my friend as she likes to blanket stitch. Hope she still likes blanket stitching and I hope she still likes the quilt. Might get some threads to go with it too.
I might try to fuse something onto my background today as it is rainy and miserable and wintry here. We do need the rain so I am not complaining.

More Lovely Stitching

Carol is finishing a lovely project from Helen from Hugs and Kisses. It is a needle book to put your stitching in. She was deciding on what fabrics to use on Wednesday night.
I shared Judy's lovely angel last week and here is the finished stocking. We all want to make them now!
Sue has framed her Bareroots' Seasons picture. Looks so good!
I found time yesterday to put the borders on my Your Home or Mine BOM. I put these things off but am so pleased when they are done. Of course that means I have to get organised to quilt it. As it is so detailed I think the quilting will need to be done by hand and machine so it will be a long process. It will be in my unfinished list for a lot longer!
