The other three projects at Stitching on the Lake

Here are the other three lovely projects that we are doing at Stitching on the lake on Saturday (and in a few weeks too). Fiona has designed this gorgeous needlecase and pin cushion. Check out her blog for the threads you need if you want to stitch this in similar colours. 

The next project is some hardanger embroidery on lovely green linen. The linen and the threads are included in your kit.

We know many of you love canvas work so here is a lovely glasses case to create. You can of course make this in any combination of colours but the ones Fiona has used are found on her blog.

Stitching....and boys

Lynn came along to class last week with her gorgeous hexagon pencil case all finished. Fantastic job, Lynn.

 Margaret has been busy too and has made this lovely quilt with machine pieced hexagons using Anni Downs' gorgeous fabrics.

 I finally sat down on Friday when I had the whole day almost all at home and put together this little block for Ben and Sam to share. I had stitched it years ago when I went to the Immerse stitching day in 2010! It is a Melly and Me pattern.

 Last year at Urban stitching in Melbourne, I stitched Rosalie Quinlan's Urban stitching set. Here they are finally put together. I changed the background colour as the aqua was very bright! The bag just needs some cord. I also changed the bag and pin cushion stitcheries around and used the bigger one on a larger bag.

 I can't resist showing you the boys from a visit on Saturday.

Stitching progress

It has been so good to have some quiet days to get started on some stitching. I am busy trying to get the samples and notes prepared for my classes that start in February. I love to get them done (and over with!) so I can concentrate on some UFOs and BOMs. Here is the cushion I have made using the painted buttons that I painted a few days ago.

I couldn't resist starting to get this Crazy Christmas BOM put together. I had decided that I wanted simple borders instead of the crazy patchwork to show off Lynette Anderson's gorgeous stitcheries. Took a while to work out what to do and then chose simple borders in the darker fabrics in Lynette's range of fabrics. Here are 2 rows. There are two more to do and then the borders.

Years ago I bought this pattern and kit at Canberra Needlework and have wanted to make it ever since. It is a pattern by Marg Low and went together so well. It's ready for Christmas this year!

Here is a little heart I have appliqued for another class project.

My dear friend, Penny, created a delightful sheep scissor keeper a while ago and I have been wanting to make one ever since. Here it is. I am planning to stitch the sheep on the back as well.

Christmas Class, a little finish and a lovely bag

I had to take some photos at work the other day (I couldn't find them in my many computer picture folders!) of these Christmas projects we are doing in a few weeks at Hobbysew. We are having a day Christmas class and these are the projects. Some of you will have stitched these with me in earlier stitching days or classes but it is nice to repeat some favourite ones. The canvas work is one of Fiona's patterns just changed a little. I remember that one of the Queanbeyan girls had this idea and it looked really good.

This little stocking is fun to stitch using felt.

Barbara came to work the other day with this gorgeous handbag. Looks great, Barbara.

I was also pleased to finish off this little canvas work scissor keeper. It is another of Fiona's designs and we are doing it in a Summer stitching day at Hobbysew in January.

Friday's Christmas class

We had a lovely day on Friday at Hobbysew for the second Christmas day. Here are the ladies busily concentrating on their stitching.

Several of them had really lovely scissor keepers on their embroidery scissors. These are, obviously, Naomi's.

Natasha had this little canvas scissor keeper.

I think this lovely beaded one was Barbara's.

Natasha rushed home to get this wonderful quilt to show us. Isn't it beautiful? I would love to make this one. Natasha did it at a class at Calico Patch at Gold Creek, a few years ago. 

Haven't had much time to blog lately as had a quick visit to Sydney over the weekend for a family celebration and then went to school to teach yesterday. I am rather out of practice and it does make me tired! 

Stitching progress and Canvas work

Just thought I'd share my stitching progress on the other version of the sampler. I've made the one using the wooden button but thought I would make a cushion with a smaller stitched version.It is still a work in progress. Here is the stitched tree.

I chose to fuse the house on this time and stitch it with whip stitch.

I forgot to show you Paddy's, canvas, scissor keeper last week. This pattern is one of my favourites.

Class projects for term 1

I took the class projects into Hobbysew on Tuesday to display them ready for the coming term. We are having a stitching theme this term as there are so many lovely bits and pieces to make to help us stitch. Here is the stitching bag.

This is a very useful pin cushion. It is one of Fiona's patterns from one of our stitching days.

This is the canvas scissor keeper.

These little dolls can be scissor keepers too or can just be ornaments.

Another Christmas party on the same day

Last Wednesday was a busy day as the night girls, or the ladies of the night, had a Christmas supper at Barbara's lovely home. Thank you Barbara for hosting the night. The time went too quickly and we all had such a nice time. Sue was the person with the most Christmas spirit with her fabulous thongs. Cathy, at Hobbysew, had that great idea and they look really good.

Sue also had her antlers on!

Some of the ladies did stitch as there are things that need finishing for the next few weeks!

There was some show and tell too. Audrey has completed this very special scissor keeper for her friend. What a lucky friend.

Margot had her finished canvas work to show us and her beautiful runner as well. They look so lovely, Margot.

It was such a lovely evening with special friends.

Monday's Class

We had the second Christmas class at the shop on Monday and there were 8 lovely ladies busy stitching, painting and enjoying a day out. I had my camera but didn't take a photo of the ladies which is a shame. Early in the day Lorraine showed me the finished items she made from the Floriade day we had last term. She made the little miniature carpet of flowers into an exquisite tape measure cover. It is so beautiful with beads around the edge and lovely stitching.

On the back, Lorraine, stitched her initial as well.

She had also completed her scissor keeper from the previous class. Well done, Lorraine. They are just so lovely.

Last Wednesday's Show and Tell

Penny had been busy and has made a lovely, scrappy, flannel quilt as a gift. It will be so warm and cosy.

Jan was using this cute little scissor keeper and pin cushion this week. It is made in felt and Donna is making one similar to this at the moment. She might have it this week for me to share.

Jan's neighbour created this lovely hardanger needlecase for her. It is so beautiful and the back is stitched just like the front. Amazing!
