A little stitching

The last few weeks have been busy with getting the Stitching on the lake projects completed, notes written and kits started. The first day is only two weeks away! There are still a few places if you are interested in coming. Email me for more information. Here are a few of the many kits!
Going on holidays for a few weeks has certainly made me way behind in my many projects! Here are 3 more Splendid Sampler blocks and there are a few more to do to catch up!

It was very exciting to head to my lovely quilter's place to pick up this quilt, Nature's Journey! She has done a wonderful job of the quilting! Now to bind and add a label.

Hard to believe that these little men turned 4 yesterday! I made them a couple of appliqued tops.

A bit of stitching.....

It is holidays here and even though I haven't had classes there hasn't been too much time for stitching. I did manage to add the beads to the end of my scissor holder and to the little scissor keep on Monday. That makes this project, from last year's cruise, completely finished

I have also been working on Chateau Hexagon as I so wanted to keep up with this one. Here are the 7 blocks so far. Adding the little hexagons to the background was time consuming and I think mine stretched a little. Must be more careful about the straight grain of the fabric!

The other job that has kept me busy are these kits for the cruise that Fiona and I (and many other teachers) are teaching on in February. Not long to go now till we leave!

We have been doing a little baby sitting too. This was last week when it was cool in the morning.
Today we minded them all day and we stayed mostly indoors as it was very hot. Just feeling a little weary now after a busy but delightful day.

A bit of stitching, kits and some toys

Shirley has been so busy finishing off some lovely Christmas decorations. She has just completed her mini bunting from last year's stitching day.
She is also making some lovely red stitcheries for another hanging. How cute are these?
So hard to keep all the stitching day projects a secret but thought I would give you a sneak peak of this one! I have been stitching after all! I have packed a bit in my stitching bag for the weekend in Galong! Looking forward to a lovely time of friendship and stitching (and no cooking etc).
I have been busy this week putting together some kits and cutting lots of fabric for the other kits. Only 2 weeks till the first stitching day so there are lots of things to do.

Just thought I would share this photo with you. This is my eldest daughter with her soft toys when she was about 3. Her little sister ( Benny and Sammy's mum) wasn't even born yet. We got this picture out because I finally got down the boxes of toys I had kept to see what was stored away. There are so many special toys in the boxes and some are a bit sad. So hard to know what to do with memorabilia! Might keep some for the grandies to play with and then photograph the rest.

Craft Show Shopping

Shopping, shopping, shopping! It was so lovely to see all the samples on the stalls and it was all very tempting. I couldn't resist Natalie Bird's new book, Red Home. It is full of beautiful projects,
There were some great books on Quiltmania's stall. I bought this one even though it is in French! Can I remember any of my schoolgirl french! There are wonderful pictures and diagrams so that will help.
I have been admiring this range for a while so the layer cake just had to come home with me.
A few new patterns to make!
My biggest spend was on Anni Downs' stall as the kits for the projects in her new book were so lovely.

 Just NEEDED some wool too.
Oh dear....so many things to make but such fun buying them.

Classes and kits

Where has the week gone? I can't believe it is Friday again. We had a busy day on Wednesday at the shop with social stitching and then classes. So nice to see what the ladies have been working on. Bronwyn and Lynn have finished their bookmarks.
Bronwyn has also finished her little needlecase from last year's stitching day and her scissor keeper is almost finished.
Lynn was using this beautifully embroidered needlecase.
What have I been doing? I have been busy over the last few weeks making samples and writing notes for the stitching days coming up in March and April. Yesterday I cut out lots of parlan, interfacing and fabric to start making the kits.
I know...they aren't on for a while but I am heading off in a few weeks on holidays and just want to be organised.  Here are some of the photos and bags ready for packing.
My stitching has slowed right down but I have been doing a little handquilting on Christmas Fun.

The first stitching day is coming

Next Saturday will be our first October stitching day here in Canberra. Fiona and I are looking forward to seeing both our regular ladies and quite a few new ones over the next two Saturdays. We have been busy making up the kits. Luckily, I did a bit before I went on holidays!
I have just filled lots of bags of stuffing and have been working on the name tags.
Haven't had much time for stitching but did stitch these precious little candles for the gift bag in "Quilt a Gift".

Tomorrow we will be showing some pictures of the Stitching day projects. This will give you an idea of what threads to bring and perhaps help you decide which of the 6 patterns you might stitch first.

Kits and kits and a little stitching

There hasn't been much time to stitch lately as I have been very busy making kits for the Stitching on the Lake day and the Queanbeyan day happening in a few weeks. Such a relief to get most of them done.
I did manage to finish the fourth block of this little Christmas quilt by Cinderberry Stitches. I had to wash this block as some of the iron on transfer was still visible and the DMC thread bled a little. I have never had that happen before! I think it will be OK but it was a little disappointing. I did stitch on patchwork fabric instead of homespun this time and perhaps that made a difference.
I also managed to stitch together my last project for the stitching day and here is a little glimpse. I just had to use the lovely sampler fabric by Blackbird designs.

A prize and kits

This lovely pattern came this week from Amanda Brooke's giveaway on her blog. It has colouring in and stitching and should be fun to do.
I have been busy last week making some of the kits for our Stitching on the Lake day in Canberra on 12 September. So exciting to see the kits coming together. Still a few to go but nice to be organised.
