Shopping

Thought I had better confess to what I bought in Melbourne and at our stitching days recently. Just as well I am not going to the Bay this weekend as I would surely be forced to buy more lovely things. One of the lovely ladies at my class yesterday, Jeanette, reminded me that you only have one life to live so make the most of it. And I do! I bought these beautiful felt creations and some wool (I used to knit once!) at AK Traditions. Made me want to come home and make felt things.
Then I just had to have some fabric at the stitching day and some wool pieces from Mrs Martin's Quilt shop too.
And just a few patterns and books. The book at the back is Gail Pan's new Basket of Blooms book which is lovely. I bought one of Rosalie's patterns and one of Leanne's patterns at the Stitch-in and then just a few other bits and pieces.
And some hangers, tea towels and buttons (and a kit, pictured above) from Rebecca at Cute as a Button. I also bought a lovely book at the Queanbeyan day called Colourful Stitching.
Oh dear. I did buy lots of thing to make. I might have to live for a very long time to do it all!

Felt needlecase and show and tell

My last purchase in Bathurst was this kit for the felt needlecase, pin cushion and scissor keeper pattern that I had purchased at Hobbysew. Anni had the sample made up at the shop and it was so small and beautiful that we all had to have a kit. The picture below is Fiona's picture of her kit and the pattern.

This is my kit. I can't wait to start! Must do a few other things first.

Angela has been a busy girl and had finished this fun baby quilt for a friend's baby. She has used all sorts of textures to make the sheep and the stars. The sheep are knitted.
Penny has been very busy and has completed this lovely bag for her friend. I did take a close up of the chook when he had his eye added but it was a bit blurry. Sorry Penny.
Penny has also completed this warm and cosy flannel quilt for a chilly young friend. What a lucky girl.

Shopping and work in progress

As you know, I have been raving about our trip to Bathurst. Now to what I bought out there! We all bought lots of lovely things. I am teaching the gorgeous projects out of Anni's book in term 4 so I bought some fabric to make the cushion in the book. Here is a picture of the book and my cushion fabric and the applique I have been working on for the cushion. It was fun to do.
I also HAD to get some felt and some lovely fabrics and couldn't resist some neutral fabrics to stitch on.
I also bought some sand (!) to fill the little pincushion kit below and a kit to make up the needlecase for the classes.
The main reason to go to The Home Patch was to get this kit for the woven wool felt decorations. Audrey has been working on these and they are so lovely. I posted some of Audrey's ones a while ago.
And that's not all of it!

Works in progress

I have finally put together the front of the stitched cushion that I mentioned a while ago. Now to complete it! It is a pattern by Sally Giblin.
I was rummaging around the other day and found another UFO! I bought this lovely kit when I was on holidays in New Zealand. We went on an amazing cruise around NZ which ended in Auckland. On our last day we had some time to kill before our flight home and I went exploring and discovered an embroidery shop. It had some amazing miniature tapestries which were framed and had been stitched on 40 count silk using 1 strand of DMC thread!!!  I just had to have one and planned to do a small section each month. I think the inspiration lasted for about 9 months as you can see from my work below!
It is so hard to see and I need to wear my magnifying contraption which makes me look like someone from outer space. It is also counted so quite an effort. Still, it will be wonderful when finished so I must persevere. I can only do it in the daytime and for short periods as it is hard on the eyes.
It will be 10cms by 12.5 cms when finished. I have added it to my Projects list to inspire me to get going.

Larry the Lamb

I have just finished putting my Larry the Lamb Pin cushion together. It is so cute! It is a pattern and kit from Anni Downs of Hatched and Patched and one of the girls from my class, Danielle, was lucky enough to visit Anni's shop in Bathurst and bought the kit for me. It is made in wool fabric which gives it a lot of texture. I am very pleased with the result. Seems a bit sad to poke poor Larry with pins!
