This and that

Last week a few of us went to Craftalive at the Old Bus Depot. It was a very chilly day and the huge bus depot was quite cold. We were all rugged up which helped. It was nice to see the stalls and the quilts. Canberra quilters had their quilt show here this time. Here are a few pictures of the quilts.

I quite liked the stalls and managed to buy some wool (not needed but wanted). some useful rasant threads and a few other bits and pieces. I have been having fun with a bit of canvas work. I wanted to make some small houses for my printers tray so adjusted a few of Sue Hawkins patterns to make them smaller. They are a fuss but very cute!

I also decided to use up some of my sock wool stash to make some socks. I have only made one pair before so it was a learning curve working with 4 little needles in the round but here is sock number 1!

Brisbane

Last Thursday, Paddy and I flew to Brisbane to go to the AQC. We were so excited to be heading to a craft show again after so long. We arrived at our apartment and Adrienne met us there. We walked to the shops and enjoyed afternoon tea and bought some sushi for dinner. On Friday we headed to the Exhibition Centre to meet Fiona. We had a lovely time! It was a bit smaller than in Melbourne and many of the shops from Victoria weren't there. Still, we loved seeing Anni Downs, Jane at Bebe bold and the Birdhouse stalls and many others.

The quilts were quite amazing. Here are a few of them.

This quilt has been made using quarter inch hexagons.

On Saturday, we explored a bit. We caught the river cat to Teneriffe. We were planning to have lunch there but there was a music festival and the main road was closed off. We then returned to South Bank and had a late lunch there.

We decided to walk back to town over the bridge. We bought some simple dinner and relaxed in the evening.

We enjoyed seeing these stainless steel statues.
Yesterday, Paddy and I filled in time till our late afternoon flight having lunch and then catching the air train to the airport. The weather was so beautiful there. Freezing here today!
I didn't need anything but still managed to buy!

Craft Show

Craft Alive was on here in Canberra so we popped in to check it out on Sunday afternoon. It was nice to see a variety of stalls. We especially liked the wool/yarn ones. I did come home with one ball of wool!
Canberra Quilters had a small exhibition upstairs that was well worth the visit.

Canberra Craft show

Last Friday, a few of us headed to the Canberra Quilt and Craft Show. It is a small show but it was still a nice day out checking out the stalls and the quilts. I didn't NEED anything but still bought a few things....some applique glue, a cross stitch pattern and some linen. A few liberty fabrics came home with me too. My favourite stall was Cutting Cloth from Melbourne. It is such a beautiful stall and shop. I just took some pictures of the quilts This one was my favourite.

I did like this sashiko/boro one as well. There were many gorgeous ones.

This quilt was originally a beautifully embroidered table cloth which the new owner quilted and it looked wonderful.
The quilting on Jill's beautiful quilt was done by Terina, who quilted my recent finish.

This lovely handpieced quilt was done by Michelle. So many stars!!!
