Still stitching and making....

Best catch up on the stitching being done here. I am still keeping up with my Stitch Therapy 365. We are up to about 130 stitcheries. Here are a few of the latest ones.

 I bought this lovely pattern, with the printed fabric, from Anni Downs in Melbourne and just loved stitching it.

 This is a very old project. I stitched these pictures in about 2006 and finally added some sashings to make the quilt. It is a baby one so I am not sure who to give it to now!!! You can't rush these things!

 I have enjoyed crocheting this scarf. It was such lovely soft wool.

 Margot was finishing the binding on this sashiko table runner on Wednesday day. It has turned out so well.

Busy day at stitching

We had a very special little visitor to stitching on Wednesday. Little Jaydon came to visit for the first time.

It must be the time for babies as it was lovely to see this delightful quilt that Angela has made for her new grandchild that is due very soon.

Janet is one of the newer ladies at stitching and she loves to knit and makes gorgeous blankets and garments using vintage patterns. This is a closeup of the blanket she has knitted.

She managed to knit this little cardigan last week!!!

In the afternoon, at class, it was great to see the ladies' stitching. Karen has almost finished her bag pocket which is stitched and decorated using her punch needle.

Lynne started this sewing pocket last week and had it filled with all her stitching goodies ready to use this week.

Pauline had finished the little felt needlecase that she started at the stitching day last Saturday.

Sheila's special projects

It was so good to see all the stitching the Tuesday girls are doing. Sheila has finished so many lovely projects. These special quilts are for her twin grand daughters due to be born soon. Aren't they so perfect for 2 little girls?

Sheila has also finished her quilt top featuring beautifully coloured birds.

The most special piece is Sheila's carpet of flowers which she has had framed recently. This photo doesn't do the colours justice. There isn't one piece of fabric showing as every bit is covered with beautifully stitched flowers. Well done, Sheila.

Sue was proudly wearing her beautiful scarf from Anni Downs' lovely pattern. I might have one next year!

Carol was working on these lovely nativity scenes from books by Nancy Halverson.

We had a special guest at class on Wednesday night. Margaret's mum came to visit and she had made this cuddly quilt for her first great grandchild.

Here are the four generations....almost. The new little one will be here in just 5 or so weeks.

More Wednesday night Show and tell

Danielle is our youngest evening stitcher and she is expecting her first baby! We are all very excited for her. She has made this lovely quilt ready for the "little one".

Her mum, Margaret, has made this great baby bag from the Winsome Baby book by Nancy Halverson. Aren't the fabrics wonderful?

Judy has been very busy and has finished her felt pin cushion and...

her felt bookmark from the stitching day.

Judy has also been working on this lovely runner. The stitcheries look really lovely.

She has also been making this lovely quilt as a gift. It has some lovely embroideries and patchwork on it and Judy's choice of blue fabrics look great. It is so inspiring to see all the lovely things the ladies are making.

Christmas class on Friday

We had the first Christmas class at Hobbysew on Friday. It was lovely to share the day with 8 busy ladies who enjoyed making some of the projects. Here they are busy at work. Najelle and Cathy organised yummy morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea, which we all enjoyed.

Marianne had this delightful needlecase with her. It is a design from one of  Lynette Anderson's Christmas quilts. We thought they all needed eyes! The fabrics were perfect.

One of the other ladies had this lovely bag with her made with hexagons.

We even had a little visitor!

Marianne had made this really special quilt for her little granddaughter from Bronwyn Hayes' beautiful baby book.

Tuesday and Wednesday at the shop

Everyone at social stitching on Tuesday were so impressed with this wonderful hexagon quilt being made by Judy. There is so much work in these fiddly hexagons which are all hand pieced. There are so many hexagons in this quilt! Well done, Judy, and I wish I was related to you. Judy is giving this amazing quilt as a wedding gift.

Di is working on her Santa and he is looking very good.

In the afternoon, Maxine has been appliqueing the front of her cushion. She has chosen her fabrics very carefully.

Maxine has also finished her lovely felt strawberry "cutter" keeper.

Stitching update

I have been stitching lately and trying to get these appliqued blocks ready for the lovely quilt in Anni Downes' book, "The World as it should be". There are lots of flowers, birds and sheep to applique and, though I love the look of needleturn applique, I don't find it as relaxing to do as embroidery. I have one fish to complete and the house block and then I can attack the patchwork.

We are heading to Melbourne next weekend so thought I had best prepare some stitching to do in the car. I am getting this BOM pattern by Lynette Anderson and thought I might start stitching the blocks. SO.... I had to needleturn some more.

The pieces are very small and fiddly but the result should be good. I think I will piece it, eventually, with simple borders instead of the crazy patchwork.

What I should be doing is making up my Stitcher's Angel projects as they are due soon. Perhaps later today!

Baby quilt

My daughter, Lyndal, and I stitched these lovely blocks from the cute book "All Creatures Great and Small" for Lyndal's friends, Jo and Fergus' new baby. Little Charlotte arrived last week and it was lucky we had finished the quilt. It was great fun to stitch. The little book has 16 animal pictures in it and quite a few projects. It is designed by Natalie Bird. Hobbysew has the book in stock now.
