Some Kind of Wonderful...finished!

My Some Kind of Wonderful quilt is finished! The binding was stitched down on the weekend.

I have also added the label and used one of Anni's label patches. It matches the quilt perfectly.
I have just made the deadline for the Stitch-a-long! Whew!

Some Kind of Wonderful is quilted

It was such a thrill to go and collect my 'Some Kind of Wonderful' quilt from Robyn yesterday and to see her beautiful quilting. She has done a gorgeous job, as always! The quilting adds so much to the quilt.
 Here are a few closeups.

Now to get that binding on!!!

Some Kind of Wonderful

Just had to get this quilt together on the weekend so it can go to my quilter this week! So exciting to get something finished....well almost! It is such a lovely quilt and has been great fun to make along with my stitch-a-long friends. Thanks to the members of that blog for all their encouragement.
We had a lovely visit to see the boys on Saturday and saw them again last night for Father's day dinner. They are so gorgeous. Couldn't resist adding a few more photos! Here is Benny.

Little Sammy is growing too and they are both a little more awake and needing cuddles. What a shame!!!!!

Some stitching

I have been trying to get a little stitching done in between a few busy weekends. I had appliqued the flowers on blocks 6 and 7 of the Vignette quilt and then it took quite a while to add all the embroidery.
I am also trying to keep up with my SKOW quilt so here are the last 3 blocks all appliqued and stitched! I hope to add the patchwork this weekend so that my top will be ready for August!

We didn't end up having classes this week but I managed to catch up with a few of the ladies on Wednesday. Diane has been very busy and has finished her bag from the Tis the Season book.
She had also finished her little canvas work scissor keeper. They both look great.
I am battling a coughing lurgy at the moment which is very irritating!!!! Hope it goes away soon. I can't go near the little grandies with a cough!!!

Stitching, new book, new fabric and little boys

Just headed into the sewing room today and put together July's SKOW blocks. I had them stitched ages ago but hadn't added the little squares! Must get on and do the side border but might wait till the last 3 blocks are done! So close to finishing now.
I have been slowly stitching these little birds from the Vignette quilt. I suppose even a little stitching will help to get the quilt done!

It was exciting to receive this lovely book in the post recently. I do love Lynette's Christmas projects. I do agree with Hanne and Abyquilt that enlarging the designs by 200% is really painful.
Just love the fabrics in Lynette's Christmas Fun range! They came the other day and are just gorgeous.

My favourites are the reds, of course!
Most exciting of all is the little chaps coming home from hospital! Here they are in their little capsules wearing Nanna's (that's me) knitted cardigans. So cute.
They sleep some of the day away in their pram. This is on their first day at home.
They came here today for a visit with Mum which was so lovely! So very special to have them living up the road!

Stitching....

I should be working on the baby quilts but need to cut and sew so have been procrastinating. I so wanted to have a go at this little turtle from Anni Downs' new book. I spent some time last Tuesday at work making up some little kits of these! I bought my kit at the craft show so I ignored all my ongoing projects and working on the turtle pincushion instead! It was fun to do some more English paper piecing.

I have been continuing my SKOW blocks. Did some prep last week.

And as it is all hand sewing, it was lovely to work on these three blocks for July.

June's SKOW blocks

I had the applique sections done for June but hadn't put the blocks together or added the borders. Finally here they are!
The, a bit wrinkled, quilt so far. Not much to go now.

Some kind of Wonderful update

Just made it for May! Here are my May blocks for the 'Some kind of Wonderful' Stitch-a-long all pieced.
I have even managed to add the side border as well!
At least one of my many projects is up to date!

Mother's day, magazines and a little stitching

We had a special afternoon tea for Mother's day with the family. Lyndal made her yummy apple cake and they all gave me this lovely aeroplane charm for my bracelet. I do like flying off to different places.
Had afternoon tea with Sue on Friday too. It was lovely to catch up and she gave me these lovely magazines to read. I have been enjoying them.
I have been stitching a little and just kept working on my Some Kind of Wonderful blocks. I am of course putting off the piecing!!!!

Wednesday Night and......

Can't believe it is Wednesday again! I haven't even shared last week's show and tell from Wednesday night. Sally has finished this gorgeous hanging for her little granddaughter.
Anita has made up her sewing pocket from the stitching day. She chose to stitch it in red and it matches her fabric well.
I was so lucky this week as I won this great magazine in a giveaway but Gail. Thanks so much for having such a lovely giveaway, Gail.
It even has one of Gail's designs in the magazine!
I have been stitching a bit and managed to applique and stitch the best friends block from Some Kind of Wonderful.
I have become a bit hooked on this game though. My girls play and you get to draw and guess...a bit like pictionary but you do it on a tablet, phone or ipad. Luckily hubby has a tablet so I can play!

A bit of stitching

I have been trying to do a little stitching and piecing over the last week. I had stitched the little stitchery from Tis the Season for this lovely bag so spent a pleasant afternoon playing with hexagons and Lynette Anderson's gorgeous "Scandinavian Christmas fabric.
Here is the front of the bag.
I also couldn't resist continuing to stitch this lovely block from Some Kind of Wonderful.
These little chooks were appliqued too ready for my last block of In My Garden. I would love to get this block done by the end of May and that quilt would be almost finished!!!!
Lastly, I headed into the sewing room and finally, after much procrastination, put the patchwork border on this side of Vignette.
It is nice to see a few things getting done. Classes at Hobbysew start again this week. Looking forward to seeing everyone again.
