A little progress

 I feel like I have been stitching but not getting very far. My cross stitch is progressing well and I have so enjoyed it that I have felt like just doing that! Doesn't matter does it? Doing what we enjoy is not a bad plan these days. I will probably be sad when it ends.

The afternoon girls have started making this Bareroots tree skirt. Here are my houses and trees so far. I had forgotten how long it takes to choose the perfect fabrics for each window etc.

Finally....I organised to take these quilts to the quilter! Some will be quilted all over and some just tacked so I can hand quilt them.....eventually!

And... another lovely little bird that hubby caught flittering around the garden.

Victoria and a little stitching

Just another view into the window of that lovely shop in Yarragon.

We drove home on Monday and stopped for a look over Lakes Entrance.

I did some stitching on the vegies from the Gardener's Journal. There was a lot of stitching on this block. I didn't read the instructions carefully and made the corn all yellow and then had to go over the stitches with green and that has made them a little wrinkly.

I also started some of the lovely decorations in the Bareroots book, Quilt a Gift, and really enjoyed working with felt again. 

The postman has been

It was so exciting last week to open a package that arrived on the front verandah. It had these lovely books and some fabric in it. I have been a little naughty on the internet. This book is by one of my favourite designers , Barri Sue Gaudet of Bareroots fame. It has such a lot of beautiful projects in it. Can't wait to make some of them.

I also couldn't resist Nancy Halverson's new book with lovely sewing accessories in it. It has some really special patterns in it.

I also ordered a little of Nancy's fabrics. Two of them are from her new range and they do look lovely and will go with my stash of her fabrics very well. I also bought the sample squares of the I Believe range as they are such nice fabrics.

I had a lovely email today from Tudy in the US, who won my Giveaway recently. Thankfully the package arrived safely. Christine has also received hers her in Australia. Thank you, Tudy and Christine, for reading my blog and for commenting on the giveaway.

Works in progress and finished stockings

I have been stitching a little. Here are two bookmarks stitched from Anni Downes' lovely book "The World as it should be". I am stitching her projects ready for my classes in term 4. The book has such lovely projects in it and it gives me the excuse to make them.

Here are my 'almost' finished Bareroots stockings. They are really fun to stitch and easy to make up. Only one left to finish.

More Christmas Stitching by the Wednesday night girls

This is Audrey's Bareroots stocking applique picture. It looks so beautiful.

Carol brought her stitching in her little Christmas bag from the stitching day a few years ago. Doesn't it look great? Hobbysew is stocking my pattern for this now. The fabrics work so well.

These are Audrey's wool decorations from Hatched and Patched. I think I might just have to order this pattern and kit! They look so good and look like fun to stitch.

More Lovely Stitching

Sue brought in her beautiful Bareroots bag to show us. Her stitching is lovely and the colours work really well. It is such a useful bag.

Judy finished all her Bareroots little stockings and they are so cute! I must try and put the ones I have stitched together too. They will be great gifts.

Judy also made this cute little bear. I think she found the pattern on the internet. She's very cuddly as she is made in flannel.

I have managed to do the stitcheries for 4 of the little Christmas stockings by Bareroots. They are so cute and easy to stitch. Here is the tree

Hugo's bag finished and a little Christmas stitchery

Finally stitched this bag together on the weekend and it was a fuss! It does look good but there was lots of machining and stitching of bias and quite a fiddle. It is a pattern by Lynette Anderson and was in a Homespun magazine.

This is a little Bareroots stitchery with applique. It was lots of fun to stitch after you finished cutting all the tiny applique pieces. Very cute result.

Wednesday morning social stitching

So glad I had the camera with me today as there were so many lovely things being stitched. Here is Penny's Bareroots nativity picture finished.

Maryellen is working on this lovely canvas work pattern. She got it from Nordic Needle and I am so tempted to check that site out.

Here is the work in progress. It is amazing how textured it is by using various canvas work stitches.

Show and Tell on Wednesday night

My "ladies of the night" have been very busy over the last few weeks. Here is a lovely runner that Danielle just needs to bind. She is getting a new dining table that is large enough for it so she decided to get it finished.

Linda has been working on this delightful quilt from Anni Downs' lovely little book, Simple Pleasures. She is making it for her aunt in England as a gift. It is looking so lovely and I am sure that her aunt will be thrilled.

Here is some beautiful stitching from Sue. She is also making the large Bareroots bag.

Lovely Stitching

Judy, from Wednesday night, is making some lovely little Bareroots stockings with these stitcheries on them. So cute!

Sue has also been working on her stitching bag and has completed the front pocket.  Looks great!

More finished projects by the Wednesday night girls

Barbara is using her bag that we made in class last term. Looks great!

Audrey has finished this lttle Seasons pattern by Bareroots. It is such a nice project to make with the tiny appliqued houses. Sue and I think Aude is very clever as she realised that the "fruit" that is on the ground in the Autumn scene is a pumpkin. We have very large apples!!!

Judy showed us this wonderful quilt. She told us it was easy but we didn't think it looked easy at all! 

The quilt has beautiful borders made with the offcuts from the piecing in the centre.

Wednesday Stitching

Had a good time at stitching on Wednesday. It is so nice to see what the ladies are working on or have completed. Joan has been working on this delightful quilt for a while now and she is up to binding it. It is a Nancy Halverson pattern and looks great. Her colours work very well.

Some of the ladies in my classes at Hobbysew are working on this Bareroots stitching basket pattern. It is a great pattern and has lots of extra useful stitching bits like a needlecase, pin cushion and scissor keeper.

In the night class, Margot has completed her Starry quilt! Looks fantastic and she is the first person to get it finished! She was able to use lots and lots of her scraps.

Barbara has been working on this lovely pattern by Lynette Anderson and it is looking so good. I think that Barbara is making for a gift. What a lovely gift!

Bareroots Projects

Here are a few more of the projects I have made using a few of my many Bareroots patterns. These little Christmas cushions are very cute and there are six in the pattern or you can make one large cushion.

This is a very useful stitching bag with several pockets and it is really roomy for all your bits and pieces.
