More clever Tuesday stitchers

A couple of the girls from Tuesday have been working on their canvas work. I am amazed at how good they all look in different colours.

Gail is working on her embroidery. I think the purple flowers look so good.

Jackie has made 2 lovely quilts her her grandchildren. The colours look fantastic.

Di has been working on this lovely quilt designed by Natalie Bird of the Birdhouse. The stitcheries are so lovely.

Tuesday Morning Stitchers

Here are the Tuesday morning social stitchers hard at work at Hobbysew today. They are all stitching lots of lovely things.

Josie, who is keener than even me about Christmas, has been working on this lovely BOM and has just put it all together. It looks great and she has used lots of beads and sequins so it sparkles.

Here is a close up of one of the Santas.

Shirley has been busy too and has almost finished her Santa hanging from the stitching day.

The ladies had a lovely time stitching and then headed off for lunch at one of the local restaurants. What a good life they lead!

A little show and tell

Managed to make it to stitching last Friday night and it was lovely to see what a few of the girls had been doing. This is Adrienne's canvas work from the stitching day.

This is Maree's finished Santa hanging. So nice to see everyone's progress.

Quilts at the Art Gallery

We took Ma and Pa to the art gallery last week to see the McCubbin exhibition. They really enjoyed seeing the lovely paintings and while they looked at that, we wandered around some of the other areas and came across some Australian quilts. It was interesting to see them and so good that quilts are being collected from our short quilting history in Australia. This one was a hexagon quilt.

These were very tiny log cabins. The logs were less that 1/2" wide.

And this blurry one was made with woollen fabrics and was a "wagga", which is a useful quilt usually made from wool suiting fabric.

Some finished projects

I enjoyed doing the punchneedle on this little bag pattern from "The World as it Should be" and managed to put it together yesterday.

Here are the woven wool felt decorations I have been stitching over the last few weeks. They are from a pattern by Anni Downes called Christmas Berry Baubles.

Here is the finished pattern for the wooden Button hearts that I am teaching at Hobbysew at the Christmas day in November. We thought we would offer the pattern and the button at the shop for those who can't come to the stitching day.

I am really pleased with the photos taken with my little digital camera.

The other 2 Christmas day projects

Here are the three felt decorations that Fiona designed and we are doing them at the day at Hobbysew as well.

There are also these 3 redwork Santas all finished using a different technique.

Christmas Day projects

Now the samples are on display at Hobbysew, I thought I could show you some of my projects for the Christmas day in November. The first day is already full, which is very exciting, so we have chosen another date in November to repeat the day. This tree of little stitched decorations is one of the four projects.

This next project includes the timber, heart shaped button to use as it is or to paint. It will make a nice decoration to hang on the tree as it is or to stitch to some felt as shown here.

The other choice is to paint it and to stitch it like this.

I am working on the pattern for this project and the buttons will be available from Hobbysew soon. There are 2 other projects and I'll show those tomorrow.
