Stitcher's angel gifts received and some show and tell

Just heard from Cheryl-Lee and she has received her stitcher's angel gifts from me. Here they are and I did add some Roses chocolates too. Hope they hadn't melted as they went to such a warm place. I am so glad Cheryl-Lee is enjoying them.

As always, we had a lovely time on Wednesday at stitching. Jan is finishing off this great quilt for her grandson, Josh.

I told you all about visiting AK Traditions in Melbourne recently and here is little Nathaniel holding the body of one of their lovely dolls. His grandma, Sue, knitted it for her daughter, Audrey.

Here she is. Sue is a lovely knitter but came this morning for a crochet lesson. I had forgotten how easy it is though not so easy to teach! Sue is doing really well and will be able to crochet the little flowers for the clothes soon.

Here are her gorgeous clothes. Makes me want to knit though it is a bit warm here at the moment for knitting.

Kits and the felt needlecase

I was very busy at work today getting the kits ready for the Christmas classes. The first one is on Friday and it is nice that the kits are all finished ready for a lovely day with the ladies.

The kits are for these projects.

I have also been working on the felt needlecase from the pattern "Bluebirds in the Hedgerow" by Diane Leftwich. It still needs to be blanket stitched together. I am very pleased with the result and really enjoyed the stitching on felt. Felt is such a lovely fabric to work with.

I hope to trace the pincushion tonight.

Roses and some stitching

I haven't blogged for a few days so I thought I had better find something to show you. My hubby is the gardener and these are some of his lovely roses. We have been having roses inside every day as they are flowering so much.

I made a start on this felt needlecase the other day and am finally up to starting the embroidery after doing lots of tracing and cutting.

I also added two more rows to the quilt. The next rows have birds and flowers.

We have been thrilled with Janelle, my sister-in-law's, wonderful recovery after her surgery on Friday. We visited yesterday and she is doing so well. Ma and pa came today to see her and were so pleased with how well she looked. She has had such a positive attitude and I am sure it has helped. Thanks to those who have been thinking of her at this time.

Works in progress

With another car ride to Sydney this week, I managed to finish the stitching on block 2 of the Crazy Christmas BOM. The needleturn was fussy as it is so little but the result was worth it.

Audrey had stitched this reduced design from Anni Downes and I couldn't resist. Not sure what I am going to do with it but it was fun to stitch.

I am getting along with my "the world as it should be quilt" and have pieced the last 3 of the checkerboard blocks and put 2 rows together this afternoon. The sheep are next!

I have been trying to keep busy this afternoon as my dear sister-in-law, Janelle, is having surgery for breast cancer. She was in very good spirits when I last spoke to her but do keep her in your thoughts.

Wednesday Show and Tell and a win

It is so good to see all the things that the ladies at social stitching and the classes achieve. It is an inspiration to us all and very motivating. Joan has had fun making this lovely quilt using a layer cake from Hobbysew. The fabrics are really beautiful. It is quite a large quilt and is made using only one layer cake and one background and some border fabric.

Ann has finished her recipe book cover. It looks so lovely and the fabrics work so well.

Sue has finished her Bareroots bag and it looks great.

I was so lucky to win one of the giveaways by Kellie of "Don't look Now". She does some amazing applique quilts and cushions, mostly with machine applique and lots of machine quilting. I know I am not a fan of too much machining but will have to try Kellie's techniques. The results are fabulous. Thanks Kellie for your generous giveaway. These are the patterns I won.

Progress on the World as it should be quilt

I have been working slowly on the quilt in Anni's book, "The World as it should be". All the needleturn applique and stitching is almost done. I realised after photographing this house block that the tank hasn't any poles to hold it up. I have since stitched them.

I have been piecing little 1 1/2" blocks together to make these blocks that are in the top and bottom rows of the quilt. There are 12 altogether and I have made 5 so far.

Went to stitching this morning and had a class this afternoon. The ladies are doing so well with all their projects. Must remember to take some pictures to show you next week.

A little gift and some stitching

Margaret, from the Wednesday night class, has just come back from a wonderful trip to Europe and went on a fabulous river cruise (it is on my list of things to do one day!). She visited Rottenburg's Christmas shop and brought us back this lovely little Santa decoration. He is so cute.

Because we have been travelling in the car so much recently I HAD to find some hand stitching to do! So, I have gone against my rule that I wasn't starting anymore BOMs till the others are made up. Oh dear! I couldn't resist starting Lynette Anderson's Crazy Christmas BOM. Here is Block 1.
