Capital Crafters stitching day

Next Saturday, Fiona and I are going to Duntroon to spend the day running one of our stitching days. This is a  new day for us and it will be fun meeting the ladies and we hope they will have a happy time stitching and making one or more of the following projects. The first one is a very special folded photo album with some stitching on the front.

Here is the felt bookmark. My class girls are making this as well next term.

This is the canvas work strawberry, which can be a scissor keeper or a decoration.

Here is the painted and stitched pin cushion. 

There are plenty of lovely projects for the ladies to make on the day and to keep them busy afterwards as well.

Fantastic hardanger and....tea cosies

Gwen brought in another finished hardanger piece on Wednesday and it is so beautiful. There are so many hours of work in this lovely piece.

Here is a closeup of the beautiful work. I am in awe of all that counting!

Donna brought in this amazing book to show me on Wednesday. It has some wonderful knitted and crocheted tea cosies in it. Donna wants to learn how to make the crocheted gumnuts and knitted leaves shown in this book when she comes to my class next term! Oh dear, I hope I can work them out!

Some stitching done...

Over the past two weeks, I have managed to get some stitching done as we drove to the Bay and to the wedding and also as I sat at the folk festival in some of the outdoor tents. I should have been making samples and writing notes but haven't been at home to do it but I did stitch! Here are some of the bugs and the flower basket from the Gardener's Journal.

This is the Potting plants stitchery.

And here is the bird bath. I can't do any patchwork yet (mind you that is what I tend to put off!) as I have ordered the fabric from The Home Patch for the outer border. Once I get that I will be able to choose my other fabrics from my stash, I hope.

It is fun to be part of the "Stitch-A-long" blog for this quilt as it is so inspiring to see the progress of the other stitchers.

More Folk Festival scenes

Here are a few more Folk Festival views. There was dancing to watch and to do. There were some fabulous costumes from all over the world.

There was shopping! This was a lovely shop with felt items.

Clothes to buy...

and more performers. This is Mal Webb and he was a highlight. He used his voice and recording to create some fantastic songs, mostly written by him. He was so clever and entertaining. Sometimes others helped him perform his songs, as in this picture.

Then there was the food. You could eat food from almost all over the world! Some favourites were the dutch pancakes, Turkish gozleme (yummy flatbread with spinach and cheese and meat if you wanted), german sausages of all kinds (kransky, bratwurst etc) with sourkraut and sauce and delicious Ethiopian food too. That's just a few of the food choices. Oh dear, back to making dinner tonight!

Folk Festival

What an amazing range of music there is to be experienced at the folk festival. There are choirs singing in the street. This is the Strange Weather Gospel Choir from Canberra.

Most of the venues are too dark to photograph with my little camera but here is one band in action.

We stayed in the Marquee for a few earlier acts and managed to get front row seats for the Beatles Singalong. It was wonderful and such fun. It is always lead by Bernard Carney and he does such a good job aided by some fellow musicians and singers.

On Saturday we went to lots of wonderful shows like the "Singing Penguins", an acapella group who are really lovely singers and sing funny songs, some fabulous guitarists, an American singer with racy lyrics and some folkies from Sweden, to name just a few! More to come today after church.

Wednesday morning social stitching

There were some lovely stitching projects at last Wednesday's group. Michelle had her mug in this delightful mug bag.

Another special quilt for a loved grandchild. It looks pieced but is a panel. Very clever.

Gwen in our hardanger guru and we are all enthralled with her beautiful work. She had made these gorgeous jewelry bags for one of her daughters.

Penny has been busy and has finished this lovely Christmas mat by Anni Downs.

Penny has also finished her felt needlecase, pin cushion and scissor fob. These are so lovely. They are lots of work but just so special.

We had our last class for this term in the evening and Margot has finished another quilt! What a high achiever.

I'd best get ready as I am off to another fun filled day at the national Fold Festival. It is so lovely. Fabulous music of all kinds, yummy food and an amazing atmosphere. 

A Wonderful wedding

We had a wonderful day on Sunday at James and Sarah's wedding. Here we are ready to head to the wedding which was in Miranda. We had a picture of the four of us taken like this a long time ago so it was nice to do it again.

We then headed to Bulli Pass for a very special reception. The view was spectacular and the food was very good, though there was far too much of it! It was a very happy time.
