Beautiful Canvas work

Sue and Judy has both been working on the canvas work needle roll from the stitching day. Don't they both look great. This is Sue's rolled ready to use. Sorry to Sue for having the name wrong! Linda's canvas work is in an earlier post.

Here is Judy's. The colours work so well in both of them.

Lovely weekend away

We had such a lovely weekend away at the coast. It was so special to share lots of laughs, food and chat with this great group of ladies. We stayed in a house north of the Bay at Longbeach. We went for a few walks! I know that is hard to believe but I did go! It was fairly chilly on the weekend so it was quite warming to walk. The view from the back of the house and along the walk was lovely.

Here are some of the girls on the walk with Batehaven, I think, in the background. Brought back lovely memories of living in this wonderful part of the world.

This fruit was interesting. We couldn't figure out what it was.

Another highlight of the weekend was the food! It was delicious and we all ate too much! Here is the fruit at breakfast beautifully arranged on a fish plate.

Caroline made us her delicious french toast using her yummy chooks' eggs.

Some of the ladies love puzzles and managed to complete this 1000 piece puzzle! It was very tricky! A few of the hardy girls went for a swim!!!! 

It was a really restful time for everyone. Lots of chat, reading, some stitching, eating and sharing. It is a bit of a shock to be home and have to think about the "chores"!

Stitching on Wednesday

I should be on my way but couldn't resist quickly blogging. I am off to the coast for a lovely weekend with my Bible study girls. There will be lots of laughs and too much food and a few of the mad ones are hoping to swim! Not me though. 
Lorraine came to class on Wednesday and is making the "blue" bag in red. Doesn't it look great in the Rural Jardin fabrics?

In the evening, Margot had her Be Attitudes quilt all sewn together. It looks so lovely. I am biased as it is one of my favourite quilts.

Block A finished!

Managed to finish block A of the Gardener's Journal quilt this week which makes me up to date! What a good feeling. Now I can relax and stitch some more blocks for next month.

"The World as it Should be" quilt

It was so exciting to get my "world as it should be" quilt back from Robyn, the quilter, on Friday. It looks so good. Thanks so much Robyn. It is the quilt from Anni Down's wonderful book, "The World as it should be".

She quilted water around the fish.

There are bees and butterflies and flowers.

This is the back!

I do love having my quilts professionally quilted! Now to bind it and add the label and it will be finished.

More of Wednesday girls' lovely work

Donna brought in her french knot picture, which had been beautifully stitched and framed. We did this technique in a class years ago and a few of us thought we ought to do another picture sometime.

In the evening, lots of the girls had been finishing their stitching day projects. Here is Linda's canvas needle roll! Fantastic colours, Linda.

Margaret had finished her notebook cover as well.

I think these are Margaret and Linda's bookmarks. Sorry if I have that wrong. Don't they look good. The flower button looks good painted and left as is.

Sue is a wonderful knitter and brought along this fabulous felted bag that she had made. She knitted it and then embroidered the circles and then felted it. Feel like getting those knitting needles out and making one of these. I think the pattern was in the Homespun magazine recently!

A block finished and show and tell from last week

How exciting! I have finished the first block (G) of the stitchalong quilt, The Gardener's Journal. I am quite pleased with the colours as I have used fabrics from my stash that match the border that I ordered. It will be a very scrappy quilt but I don't mind that look. Started cutting and organising the May block this afternoon.

Last Wednesday, Joan brought in her wonderful dinosaur quilt. I shared the blocks with you earlier but here is   the quilt all together. There will be patterns for these blocks available at Hobbysew soon.

This is the pillowcase.

Michelle was having a lovely time stitching on her latest creation. She has handpainted the fabrics and the background and has fused the flowers on and is stitching around them with a naive backstitch. It's looking great, Michelle.

I do hope all the mums had a wonderful mother's day today. We went to our daughter's house for afternoon tea and had a lovely time. The kids bought me a charm for my Pandora bracelet. It is the eidelweiss one which is a lovely reminder of my Austrian heritage.
