Tuesday show and tell

The stitching girls at Hobbysew had so much to show this week. Helen has just finished this stunning quilt.

Sue went to a workshop and made this quilt top. Lovely colours.

Judy, who is hiding in the hexagons, is our hexagon specialist. She just loves hand piecing all these hexagons and has made so many quilts. This is the one she is working on now.

Barbara came in too and shared this wonderful old quilt. I love the design. Her husband's mother's mother made it! Sorry if that's wrong, Barbara, but it is OLD! It is all hand pieced and quilted.

It is pouring with rain here today! The dams, which were so low last year, are up to 80% and the skylight in my bathroom is leaking. I think it could stop now!!!! Tomorrow we are having wintry conditions in Canberra but we will all be dry and warm at our "Stitching on the Lake" day. Can't wait till tomorrow to see everyone.

Two new books and some little "Quilt a Gift" projects finished

The mailman delivered these two books the other day. I have a few jelly rolls and haven't made anything with them and have just enjoyed looking at them! This book might inspire me. I also ordered Lynette Anderson's book as well even though I am not into cats and dogs. There are so many lovely projects in this book that I couldn't resist.

I have had a lovely time finishing off a few more of the projects in the "Quilt a Gift" book. Classes start again today at Hobbysew and I wanted to have a few more samples made from the book we are doing this term. Here are some more of the decorations, though this time I used felt behind the appliques and fabric fused on in the lower ones.

I just loved stitching these little birthday bags.

The Christmas Stitching day projects

How exciting to be able to share our projects for the stitching days happening here in Canberra on Saturday 16th October, on the 23rd and in Batemans Bay in November. Fiona and I are so looking forward to lovely days of stitching, chatting, eating and catching up with so many of our stitching friends. The kits are ready and here are the projects. This is the lovely canvas work stocking. It can be made in any colour combination so think about the ones you plan to use.

And lastly, here is the stamped Christmas sampler. Once you have stitched the sampler, it can be framed or made into a cushion or hanging.

The first stitching day is coming

Next Saturday will be our first October stitching day here in Canberra. Fiona and I are looking forward to seeing both our regular ladies and quite a few new ones over the next two Saturdays. We have been busy making up the kits. Luckily, I did a bit before I went on holidays!

I have just filled lots of bags of stuffing and have been working on the name tags.

Haven't had much time for stitching but did stitch these precious little candles for the gift bag in "Quilt a Gift".

Tomorrow we will be showing some pictures of the Stitching day projects. This will give you an idea of what threads to bring and perhaps help you decide which of the 6 patterns you might stitch first.

A finish and another Quilt a gift project

I am having some "fun" trying to blog today! Dear hubby has a new flash phone and so all things google have been changed! It is very frustrating but hopefully fixed now.
I have enjoyed stitching my last Crazy Christmas block this week and here it is. The applique is a lot of work and it is tiny but very worthwhile. I do love Lynette's little pictures. This is the last block and I am determined to put it together next month. I am planning to sash it simply instead of doing the crazy patchwork.

There have been a few busy days with our eldest's 29th birthday dinner, a busy day at the shop and some time needed to prepare for the stitching days which are coming up very soon. It was also lovely to have a day of shopping with dear friends, Karen and Di, yesterday. I have also been trying to get a few more of the samples made for next term's classes using the "Quilt a Gift book. This is the start for the lovely birthday bag with its little felt candles.

A little finish and another Gardener's journal block done

It was so nice to have 2 quiet days at home this week and I managed, in between procrastinating, to make up this lovely little canvas work scissor keeper that I stitched while on holidays.

I also "forced" myself to cut the pieces and put together block F of the Gardener's Journal quilt that I am doing with the "Stitch-a-long" girls. Some of the seams are a bit wobbly but I blame the checky fabrics! I do think it is probably the dodgy sewer who tends to rush these things. This was the September block so it is just a little late.

Wednesday Show and Tell

Naomi showed us this wonderful quilt she has just finished. She started in 2006 and has just had it quilted. It looks great and is one of the BOMs  by Vivien Robinson.

Angela has been working on this stitch sampler on ticking fabric. Looks like a really fun way to learn some new stitches. She is following an idea found in an old Inspirations magazine.

In the evening, Barbara had finished her little bag from the Christmas Stitching day that I ran at the shop last Friday. Barbara is almost finished her cushion too. The bag looks lovely, Barbara.
