Pirates, stitching and the latest Homespun

At social stitching yesterday, Jan had her finished pirate hanging to show us. She has designed and created it herself for her grandson. It is so special.

Here is a closeup so you can see all the little special buttons, charms and bits and pieces she has added to the hanging.

In the afternoon, Lynne had her finished embroidered bag to show us. It has turned out so well.

When I returned home I was very pleased that the latest Homespun was in the letter box. It was already in the shops yesterday and we were a little put out as we thought that subscriptions were meant to arrive before the magazine was available in the shops.

Mind you the next My Town block is gorgeous! Can't wait to start this one. I am not sure that I will needleturn it as done in the pattern but it is a lovely block.

Finally, a little progress has been made on Block 3 of Scandinavian Christmas. I am quite enjoying the cross stitches around the edge.

My Town block and In My Garden block 4

Over the last few weeks I have been working on this My Town block. I changed the corner store to a country store and made the house a bit taller. Couldn't resist adding one of Anni Downs' ladies with her basket of shopping.

On the weekend, I managed to stitch together block 4 of the In My Garden BOM. I can't believe how with so many scraps in the borders, you can still get 2 of the same ones next to each other!

I have also had fun stitching this little Anni Downs Christmas project. It is part of a tree shaped decoration and now needs to be made up. We are doing some of Anni's gorgeous Christmas patterns in class next term.

Runners, a bag and some applique

So exciting to see two runners, from the stitching day, all finished. Karen brought hers into class and had lengthened it to suit her long table and had made the ends square. Looks great, Karen.

I went to Canberra quilters last night and they had a wonderful display of Japanese fabrics and quilts to share. Sadly I didn't take any photos. Anne was there and had her finished stitching day projects with her. Here is her runner looking lovely. She has used 30's fabrics for the patchwork on her runner.

Anne has also finished her embroidered bag which looks so lovely. I must make one of these sometime.

I have managed to do the applique on my Scandinavian Christmas block this week. Now to get around to the stitching.

A few more blocks and some preparation

Here are the other blocks all appliqued for Block 4 of In my Garden. I so love the little lady beetles.

I have finally started planning for the next block, the third one, of Scandinavian Christmas. Here are the fabrics with the freezer paper shapes ironed on and the background traced ready to start the applique.

Stitch-a-long blocks

Just made it for the May deadline for these blocks! Here are my May blocks. I have had the stitching done for a while but just had to add the borders.

Stitching Progress

After two busy weekends with the stitching days, it was lovely to do a bit of catching up this weekend. Month 4 of In my Garden came a few weeks ago so I organised the fabrics last week and began the applique.

Here is the large pot plant.

Here are the smaller pot plants. These were fiddly but I do love the way they have turned out.

Now to a real "Ta Dah" moment. Here are blocks 2 and 3 of the Vignette BOM. The stitching has been done for a while and I needed to finish the stitching on the patchwork and then make the shoo-fly blocks. So here it is! This is the left side.

and here are blocks 2 and 3 together. Oh dear! The next magazine is coming next week and I gather there are 3 blocks to finish in that issue!

Tuesday stitching

It was so exciting to see the lovely stitching on Tuesday morning. The ladies have been very busy working on and finishing some of the Stitching day projects. Helen had finished her canvas work.

Lynne had finished hers as well!

Barbara was nearly finished hers. Don't they look wonderful?

I think this little felt scissor keeper is Lynne's too.

Shirley had finished her lovely felt needlecase as well.

Maureen has been working on a care quilt using lots of 2 1/2" strips. What a bright, cheerful quilt.
