A wedding, Father's day and some stitching

Yesterday we were helpful grandparents and helped with the little men at a wedding. Mummy was a bridesmaid and so we were minding boys so they could have their pictures taken with the bride and groom and then be whisked off to bed at home. They were very good but it was busy keeping them amused when they were quite tired and not all that well either. it was a perfect day though for a wedding.
It was a good feeling to get them in the photograph and then we headed home with them....feeding them cheese and sandwiches and singing loudly to keep them awake till we made it home.

The wedding was at the Botanical gardens which is lovely but the grass was wet and there were so many little stones etc for little men to want to eat!

Today is Father's day and Pa helped Amy create this picture with the little men for their Daddy. So cute!

It feels so long since I have blogged but I have been stitching. Here is block 3 of the Chateau Hexagon BOM. Great to be up to date as block 4 comes out next week.
I have also finished stitching the last side of the Vignette quilt. Now for time and inclination to do all the piecing!

I have also been stitching some of the smaller retreat projects ready for class next term. These need sewing together too.

It is always fun to do a little canvas work.
So lovely to see Karen's Whimsy and Wonder at the shop on Wednesday. It looks fantastic.

Sue has also been busy with some intricate counted thread work!

Fantastic Show and Tell

Last week the ladies came to the shop with the most amazing number of "finished" projects to Show and Tell. In the afternoon, the week before,  Lynne had completed this lovely hanging. You can change the sayings when you wish with the spare ones in the little matching bag.
At Wednesday social stitching, Janet had made this delightful dress for little Audrey.
Sue has just finished her seventh gorgeous "Shepherd's Bush" stocking for her latest little granddaughter.
In the evening, the show and tell continued. It was lovely to see Barbara back in chilly Canberra after her lovely time away in the warmth with this fabulous quilt for her grandson. Lucky boy!
Linda has finished her bag from the retreat for a gift for a dear friend.
Margot has done a lovely job on the needlecase too.
Audrey though stole the show with lots of lovely finishes. She hasn't been able to come to class for a while but has been very busy stitching. Here are 2 of the delightful robots from Anni Downs'Boys book.
These beautiful purses have turned out so well. They are Anni's patterns as well. I do think there may be a kit for one in my stash!

Audrey had also finished this gorgeous pin cushion in the lovely woven wool felt.
Lastly, she has completed this beautiful needlecase. Wow! Well done, Audrey.
Sally had this beautiful library bag ready for her little granddaughter. It is just lovely and a nice use for the Snug as a Bug stitchery from Urban stitches.

So motivated to get stitching after seeing all those wonderful finishes!

Little boys

I thought it must be time to show some more recent pictures of the little men. They have been on the move for a while now and Sammy is trying to take some steps as well.

Mum blew bubbles for them while we were there and it was a delight to see them trying to catch them.

Canberra Quilt Show

I took a few photos of some of the quilts at the Canberra Quilters Exhibition last weekend. This one was amazing as nearly all these blocks have been hand pieced.

Here I am with my Some Kind of Wonderful quilt.
This one by Jenny Bowker won Best of Show and several other prizes. It was just amazing.
This quilt was Linda's from class and it was made with very quirky fabrics. It was all about families and how they are all different and special in their own ways.

I loved the colours in this more traditional quilt.
This was a delightful modern quilt by Michelle Law.

Here are a few other favourites. It was hard to choose my favourites as there were so many amazing quilts.
