Sewing...

There has been some sewing going on here. I have never machined as much as I have lately with the blocks from The Splendid Sampler. I am learning a lot!

I promised myself that I would try and work on some UFOs. I finally started building the houses on Block 5 of Yoko Saito's Mystery quilt!
These blocks were already stitched except for the words!

Had to draw up this block as I certainly do this on many days.
Last day at class last week for term 1. Lynne is still making wonderful bags.
Barbara had knitted this lovely warm cardigan for a little neice. Love the buttons.

Birthday fun

I enjoyed a lovely day on Monday for my birthday. The girls and the grandies took me out to the park and to Ricardos for morning tea. It was not glamorous but was great fun.

In the evening, Bruce and I went out for a delicious meal. Dessert was very special.
I was so lucky as Lyndal crocheted a beautiful infinity scarf for me. Love the colour.

My lovely friend Paddy surprised me by knitting me these amazing gloves! They are just so gorgeous.

Progress

In between the lovely family times I have been trying to keep up with my many projects. I honestly shouldn't have started so many new things this year but it was too tempting! There is something about starting something new, isn't there? I have been keeping up with The Splendid Sampler. Here are blocks 11, 12 and 13.

I am still enjoying stitching these little blocks for the quilt in Anni Downs book, The Story of my Day. I had run out of the brown colour for the words (none of the shops nearby have had it recently). Thanks Lynne for giving me one of yours!

This house applique from the Foxley Village BOM in the Homespun took a while to stitch but I was determined to have it done before the next issue comes out! Please note there isn't a fox yet as I am not too sure about adding him!

I dragged out these lovely scarves by Anni Downs recently. They were works in progress. One was appliqued and stitched so I worked on them a bit. I am making the little baubles to hang from the ends of one of them at the moment.

Easter

We had a lovely Easter weekend and I hope you did too. There was too much chocolate and some great family time. It was a special treat having Ma come to visit.

Lovely work

Just wanted to share some lovely work by the Wednesday class ladies. Marlene has been busy and has completed her candlewicking and has made it into a zippered bag. Looks great and so useful.
She has also been practising her stitches on the wreath from the stitching day. Well done, Marlene.
Jayne hasn't been enjoying the little appliques on Anderson's Farm but even so, she has done a wonderful job. I love her choice of fabrics especially the sheepy field!
I have been stitching a bit too. I am trying to keep up with all my ongoing projects (though should attack some UFOs). Here are blocks 10 and 11 of The Splendid Sampler. It has been very interesting trying some new techniques.

Hoping to work on the Homespun BOM today. I am up to the large applique house and April is coming fast!

Lovely weekend at the coast

It was so special to have a long weekend down the coast with our Thursday ladies group. We "retreat" to the coast once every year and have such a good time. Friday was still quite warm so some of us, including me, went for a lovely swim. We rent a house just walking distance from Denhams Beach.

Some of the ladies like to play games and do puzzles. There were many to choose from. We all played a wonderful drawing game called Telestrations which was great fun.

We also ate very well. There were delicious cakes and slices, chocolate and delicious breakfasts, lunches and dinners too.

We all look forward to this weekend every year. Some of us enjoyed some stitching as well.
