Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park

On Saturday, 3 September, we went first to Bryce Canyon. It was absolutely amazing! We went on the Navajo walk down into the canyon and of course had to come back up too! I did it but slowly!

We then drove through Zion National Park which is a beautiful place too. Sadly there were so many people there as it was the Labour Day long weekend and it was impossible to park!

So instead of exploring Zion as we had hoped we headed to our hotel in St George and had a rest. We managed a swim in the pool, did some washing, blogged and sorted photos. It was actually nice to rest. We went to Dennys for dinner which was good!

Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon

We are safely home now after a long flight and a bus ride. So lovely to head to bed at 7.30 pm last night after trying to stay awake all day. We did manage to sleep on the plane which was a big help. Now back to catching up the days left of our US adventure. On Thursday, 1 September, we got up early once more and headed towards Flagstaff where we were staying that night. On the way we discovered we were close to the Hoover Dam. It was great to see this marvel in real life.

After we checked in at Flagstaff we then drove to Sedona. It is a gorgeous place and it was just a shame that it was rainy.

Can you see this Snoopy rock? We ended up having dinner here and then drove back to Flagstaff in the rainy, dark conditions. It wasn't an easy drive!
On Friday, we headed to the Grand Canyon. It was just as amazing, if not more amazing, than we expected. We walked along the rim for quite a while.

We then drove a long way to our hotel near the Bryce Canyon. The drive itself was amazing as we had to travel around the Grand Canyon past lots of amazing scenery.

Las Vegas

We head home tonight on the midnight flight after a busy few weeks seeing some spectacular scenery. On Tuesday 30 August, we drove a very long way from Santa Barbara to Las Vegas and it got warmer and warmer. I am not sure that Vegas is really our scene but it was fun to see it. In the evening we caught the bus that goes along the Strip to check out the lights. We were staying here in NY NY.

On Wednesday we went on the bus again and checked out the Strip in the daylight.

It was very hot so we had a swim here and a sit in the shade which was very pleasant.
The highlight of the stay was going to see the Cirque de Soleil performance of KA. It was so fantastic!

The Big Sur and Santa Barbara

On Sunday, 28 August, we drove from San Francisco to Los Osos, where we stayed that night. The drive took us along the Big Sur. It was such a beautiful drive and the weather was perfect.

On Monday, we headed to Santa Barbara. We had originally planned to stay elsewhere but we were told on the cruise that Santa Barbara was a great place to visit. They were right. It is a beautiful place. We only had an afternoon so we caught the tram around the town. We enjoyed the wharf area and the Mission especially.
