A stitching catch up

It was a delight to catch up with some of the Wednesday afternoon stitching girls this week. Thank you so much, Beth, for hosting this very special time. There was lots of chat and laughter and some lovely show and tell too. There was also yummy food....delicious cheese and even sticky date pudding brought along by Roni. It was especially nice to see some lovely sewing as it is always so motivating. Beth found this beautifully lined basket at an op shop!
Beth has also finished these amazing Christmas decorations!!
Roni had stitched this lovely Kathy Schmitz bauble! She even printed the design onto her fabric.
I wore my new scarf so that was my show and tell. It is so lovely after blocking.
Then I just had to start something new. I bought this wool ages ago to make a cardigan and am making one from the top down. It has been a learning curve but seems to be working! It is the My Favourite Cardigan pattern by Georgie Hallam.

The boys turn 8 and some sewing

Our big boys turned 8 recently. Haven't any pictures of their many celebrations and gifts but here they are. So hard to believe that those tiny babies could be such big boys.

I decided to download the blocks for the Love and Hugs for Christmas stitcheries. Here are two of them. I may not do them all but it is very kind of the designers to share their designs with us.

I also finished this crochet shawl. It is blocking right now. What a difference blocking makes. It is a lovely design by Annie design crochet called the Little Fictions Shawl.

Lovely catch up

Some of the Wednesday night girls enjoyed a wonderful catch up last Thursday. Thank you to Margaret for hosting such a beautiful morning tea for us. I wish I had taken pictures of the table and the ladies but I did get some wonderful show and tell pictures to share. Barbara is binding her beautiful Story of My day quilt and had completed another quilt as well.

Barbara also stitched this beautiful label.
Lynn has been so busy over the months between meetings! We loved all her beautiful finishes.

Judy has been busy too. We were especially impressed with the black and white quilt she is making. Just such perfect piecing!

Margaret has finished lots of lovely quilts and runners. Just beautiful!

Margaret also made us all a great thread catcher with very apt quilty sayings!
I have finished one project. This Christmas bag by Anni Downs. It was fun to make.

Lovely to see Ma and Deirdre in chilly Canberra last week. We had a lovely time catching up with them over several meals and outings. The grandies enjoyed seeing them too.

A bit of stitching

After all the celebrations and doll making, it has been nice to work on some of my other projects. I managed to finish the lovely zippered bag from the Stitching day last September. It is a great pattern from Anni Downs' new book. It went together well though was a slow process. I also sadly sewed the lining in upside down.....it isn't being undone to repair this!

I also started this Christmas bag by Anni Downs. I bought the kit last year and am enjoying the lovely wool applique.

It has been great to see a few of our stitching friends and see what they have been stitching. Paddy made this beautiful pouch for a gift. It is another Anni Downs' pattern.
Heather has been working on this amazing cloth for a while and it is so beautful. Lovely liberty paper piecing for the petals and absolutely amazing, embroidered centres.

The crocheted edge is gorgeous too.

Little Miss turns 6

Miss Alice had some lovely celebrations for her 6th birthday. She had a party with her friends on Saturday and they had good fun. Here she is before the party in her new Liberty dress which Mummy made for her.

The cake was a mermaid themed number 6.
On Sunday she celebrated with Daddy's side of the family in the morning and then came to us in the afternoon. We enjoyed afternoon tea and she enjoyed opening her gifts. She did love her doll and has named her Adeline.
