Ma comes to visit

We have had a lovely few days with Ma visiting. She saw the balloons, we enjoyed several meals out, saw all the great grandchildren, went shopping and had a morning tea picnic at the park with some of the children. It was quite a busy time!

Yesterday we went on an adventure on the tram! We rode to Gungahlin, had lunch and then rode back.

Little miss came over after school and spent some time with Old Ma and even had a swim (it wasn't very warm in the water).

High Tea and balloons

The girls and I enjoyed high tea at the Hyatt last Sunday. It was very good and they catered for different dietary requirements so well. The platter below was a special plate for my daughter and there had been a savoury one as well. We enjoyed some lovely food too.

Hubby went out early to capture these great pictures of the balloon festival. I was still asleep but enjoyed seeing the pictures. Thought you might like to see them too.

Balloons and grandies

The balloon spectacular has been on over the last few weeks and I did get up one morning VERY early to see them. Sadly they weren't at Old Parliament house as there was no wind! Luckily they did eventually fly and we were able to see them from the Arboretum. I took this one and thanks to Bruce for the bottom three photos!

He did go out another morning and managed to get this lovely shot.
The little people are growing up so fast. Little Alice is crawling everywhere! Hope you notice her t-shirt as her Mummy appliqued a giraffe onto it.

We are so enjoying these little fellows. So much chatting and activity when they visit these days!

The backing pieced and some balloons

I managed to get going and pieced the backing for my "World as it should be" quilt and am ready to send it to the quilters. I should do it myself but haven't the inclination and would rather do other things. Sue, a fellow blogger, suggested that we think of it as "doing the bit you love and giving someone else the opportunity to do they bit they love doing. In the end, it is better to have a finished quilt that you can use and enjoy, than one which is just a top and stuck away in a cupboard somewhere! After all, this is meant to be fun isn't it?" I so agree, Sue, and am planning to ring Robyn today. Here is the back.
I traced some of the pictures from the book to start the label.
Had to share these hot air balloons with you even though I was asleep and didn't see them. Hubby was up and about and took these photos near our place.
I remember how shocked we were the first time we heard them flying over this house as they make quite an unusual noise and we didn't know what it was.
