Baynac, Marqueyssac and Castelnaud

On Thursday, 6th April, we went to Beynac castle. It was a wonderful old chateau. We did a tour, in French, of the castle. Thankfully John could translate some of it for us. These were the keys the young lady used to open the doors.

We then went to the Marqueyssac gardens. We had a lovely wander around the gardens and the small chateau. It is called the Belvedere of the Dordogne.

We then visited the Chateau de Castlenaud which was very interesting. Great displays showing the history of the castle.

Rocomodore and Marlet

On Wednesday, after the market, we headed to Rocomodore. Rocomodore is an amazing hill top town that has been on the pilgrimage route for over 1000 years.

In the afternoon, we stopped at another lovely town called Martel. The sun was so warm that we went on a walking tour of the town.

Sarlat

On 4th April, it was my birthday so we enjoyed a quieter day. We wandered around Sarlat. We visited the Manoir de Gisson, which was a lovely old house in the centre of Sarlat.

It was lovely to stay on the old town. In the evening we just walked to a lovely restaurant for a delicious dinner. The next morning we headed to the market to get some goodies for dinner. Just had to have a pastry as well.
