Two new books and some little "Quilt a Gift" projects finished

The mailman delivered these two books the other day. I have a few jelly rolls and haven't made anything with them and have just enjoyed looking at them! This book might inspire me. I also ordered Lynette Anderson's book as well even though I am not into cats and dogs. There are so many lovely projects in this book that I couldn't resist.

I have had a lovely time finishing off a few more of the projects in the "Quilt a Gift" book. Classes start again today at Hobbysew and I wanted to have a few more samples made from the book we are doing this term. Here are some more of the decorations, though this time I used felt behind the appliques and fabric fused on in the lower ones.

I just loved stitching these little birthday bags.

Classes on Wednesday

It was so lovely to see all the ladies again on Wednesday as the classes started again at Hobbysew. There was such lovely show and tell! Jill has been very busy creating this great bag to take with her later in the year when she goes to Africa to see the elephants and all the other animals.

She used this special button given to her by Paddy. Looks so good.

Jill had also completed her stitched and patched needlecase.

In the evening, Barbara had her stitchery all framed. Looks great.

She has also finished her first quilt. What a great job you have done, Barbara.

Linda has been busy as always and has made this great diamond quilt.

We're all jealous of Audrey too as she has started her beautiful scarf by Anni Downs. Can't wait to get mine out of the kit!

Fiona is on her way now so we can get ready for the stitching days! We are so looking forward to seeing everyone again on the weekend. Check Fiona's blog to see her kits all prepared for the day.

Class projects for Term 2

Here are some pictures of the class projects for this coming term. We are doing this felt bookmark.

This is a lovely canvaswork project which I did with Fiona years ago and only recently had framed.

We are making the "Basket of Flowers" bag over a two weeks.

The new sampler and cushion pattern is part of the class too.

This is the little stitched and coloured cushion.

This little felt pincushion is in the classes too.

And lastly, this little counted thread hanging which is another one of Fiona's lovely projects.

Christmas show and tell

Margaret has finished these 2 little hangings from the newest Nancy Halverson book, I Believe. I do plan to make some of these eventually. There are so many lovely projects in the book.

Audrey is working on this quilt by Lynette Anderson. It is the same as the one that Danielle finished. It is looking so lovely. Can you spot the difference between this one and Danielle's? Audrey has stitched the cross stitches and the borders. Looks great, Audrey.

It is always so nice to see what the girls are stitching and have finished on Wednesdays. I will miss seeing them and their work during our weeks without classes. They will have so much to show me when we meet again. Only 2 sleeps till Melbourne and 5 sleeps till the stitching day! Don't forget to check out the stitching day projects posted on September 4.

Show and Tell

My classes started again yesterday and the girls had been busy over the break. There are so many lovely things to show you. It will take a few posts.

Maxine finished her Bareroots bag and it looks so lovely. The colours have worked extremely well.

Linda and Anita went out to Gunning for a stitching weekend recently and did the finishing UFOs option and has completed her Seasons top. It is so lovely. Linda has used flannels and it was a class and design by Cathy Stevenson (one of our managers at Hobbysew). Might try and get to Gunning for a day next year.

Wednesday stitching girls

Here are some more lovely works in progress by the Wednesday stitching ladies. This is Penny's lovely quilt for a little friend of hers. He will love counting those sheep.

This is Helen's bag. She has made both the front and the back. It is looking great.

Nada came to our class last week to work on the starry quilt but also shared this lovely quilt she is working on with us. 

Lovely ladies on Wednesday night

Thought I'd share a few photos of my lovely ladies of the night. These girls have been coming to my classes for a long time and we have a really good time on Wednesday nights at Hobbysew. Most of them were working on their Starry quilts last night but several were doing other things as well.  We do a lot of chatting, share ideas and enjoy each others company and occasionally we stitch!

Here are Danielle,Sue and Margaret hard at work. Danielle is working on her canvaswork, Sue on a stitchery and Margaret is decorating a lovely hand towel for her daughter, who is getting married soon.

Margaret and Carol worked on their star blocks and Carol was very excited to complete one. I am not sure she was too pleased to realise that she needed to make about 40 more! 

Margot and Linda chained lots of squares together for their borders and Judy completed a star block too.

Class projects for Term 1

Thought I would post some pictures of the projects that we are doing in my classes at Hobbysew this term. Thanks to Fiona, my fellow stitcher and blogger at Peaceful Threads, we are making this cute little house pincushion first.


Then we are making this little evening bag. It is crazy patchwork decorated with beads and embroidery.
This colourful quilt is based on the wonderful techniques taught by Mary Ellen Hopkins. I did a course with her a few years ago and bought a few of her quilting books. The books focus on really easy techniques and quick quilts. This one is easy though the squares are small and it takes a while to cut the 600 or so you need. It is a wonderful way to use your stash of dark and medium scraps.
Then we are making this appliqued and stitched patchwork bag. 

Lastly we are stitching this little canvas work scene. It is only 2 1/2" square.
