Finally, time to catch up on many adventures over the last week. On 6 June we caught the bus to Sydney, flew to Singapore, flew to Milan (had to stay on the plane for an hour and a half) and then arrived in Barcelona on Wednesday 7th. We then caught the train and the metro to our apartment in the city. We left our bags, had a coffee and checked in around 1pm. We then had a very large "menu" lunch of several courses! We didn't need dinner and headed to bed early to try and recover from the jetlag. On Thursday 8th, we had tickets for the Sagrada Familia which was wonderful.
We then wandered around the Gothic quarter and the old Cathedral.
Just down the road from our apartment was the old hospital site that is now the Sant Pau Art Nouveau site. It was very interesting to visit.
On Friday, we caught the metro and the train to Montserrat. It was amazing. It is a Benedictine Abbey. I went into the Basilica and saw the black Virgin. It is all very high up and we caught the cable car to the top.
We also walked the stations of the cross.
W left at just the right time as there was a storm and the mountain completely clouded over. we headed back to Barcelona and went up into a shopping centre in the Placa Di Spanya to check out the view.
We also checked out two of Gaudi's houses, Casa Batllo and Casa Milo. Amazing!
We finished the day with tapas and a sangia and beer.
