Girona

We are really in Dijon today but I will head back to the 12 June when we left Barcelona for Girona. We enjoyed one more cake and coffee at our favourite restaurant and then negotiated steps, the Metro and the fast train to Girona. Girona is a gorgeous place and has many steps! We took many of the steps to the Cathedral and enjoyed the views. We also enjoyed the bridge that was designed by Eiffel.

On Tuesday 13 June, we walked around the walls of the town. Gorgeous views from many spots.

We went into the cathedral today and it was amazing. It was started in the 13th century. The highlight was the Tapestry of the Creation which was stitched in the 11th or early 12th century.

In the evening, we went to the childhood home of the architect, Rafael Maso. He was born in the house in the late 1800s and knew Gaudi, though his work was quite different. The family added more houses  till there were 4 in a row and Maso did the renovations.

The Maso house is the white one.
On Wednesday 14 June, we visited the pharmacy that Maso designed for his brother.

We also went to the Basilica de Sant Feliu which was beautiful.

Our ticket included the Girona Museum of Art and it was wonderful.

Finally we went to the Arab Baths.

And to finish, some of the cute shops.

We also enjoyed some yummy meals and drinks. I am quite liking Sangria these days.

Sun h a lovely refresher of many places that are familiar to me. The door to our son's apartment is about 20 steps back from the entrance to the Farmacia. So glad you enjoyed your visit to this very special town.
